Finding the right division is the first step toward a successful hockey season. Surrey Minor Hockey follows Hockey Canada age classifications, with players placed into divisions based primarily on their birth year.
Whether your child is stepping onto the ice for the very first time or continuing their hockey journey, each division is designed to provide age-appropriate instruction, skill development, and a positive playing experience.
As players progress through the divisions, they gradually build skating ability, hockey skills, teamwork, confidence, and game awareness in an environment that emphasizes both development and enjoyment.

Player Development Pathway
Every division builds upon the skills learned in the previous stage. Surrey Minor Hockey's development pathway is designed to help players grow at an appropriate pace while fostering confidence, sportsmanship, teamwork, and a lifelong passion for hockey.
Beginning with introductory skating and puck control, players gradually develop more advanced technical skills, tactical understanding, and competitive play as they progress through each age group.

U7 — Learn to Play & Fun

Understanding Your Playing Options
