A Community Hockey Legacy Since 1975
Founded in 1975, Surrey Minor Hockey Association has played an important role in the development of youth hockey throughout Surrey and surrounding communities.
What began as a local association serving a growing hockey community has evolved into one of British Columbia's most recognized minor hockey organizations. Through decades of growth, change, and success, our commitment has remained the same: providing opportunities for young athletes to learn, compete, and thrive both on and off the ice.
Thousands of players have worn the Surrey jersey, creating a legacy built on sportsmanship, teamwork, dedication, and community pride.
Home of the Thunder
For generations, Surrey teams have proudly competed under the Thunder name.
The Thunder identity became synonymous with hard work, determination, teamwork, and community spirit. Across countless games, tournaments, and championships, players proudly represented Surrey while carrying forward the values that define our association.
Today, the Thunder legacy remains an important part of our story. It reflects the dedication of the players who wore the jersey before us and the generations who continue to build upon that tradition.
Built by Volunteers, Families & Community Supporters
Behind every successful season is an incredible team of volunteers.
Parents, coaches, managers, officials, board members, sponsors, and community supporters have helped shape Surrey Minor Hockey for decades. Their countless hours of dedication make it possible for players to enjoy safe, organized, and memorable hockey experiences.
From early morning practices to tournament weekends and fundraising events, our volunteers continue to be the foundation of our association's success.
The history of Surrey Minor Hockey is ultimately the story of the people who have generously given their time, energy, and passion to support young athletes.
Alumni & Association Memories
Every player who has been part of Surrey Minor Hockey contributes to our story.
Over the years, former players, coaches, officials, and volunteers have carried the lessons learned through hockey into their schools, careers, families, and communities. Their achievements on and off the ice continue to reflect the values developed through minor hockey.
As we continue to grow, we remain committed to preserving and celebrating the memories, stories, accomplishments, and experiences that have shaped our association.
